Gasohol is a mixture of gasoline and alcohol that is useful as a fuel for an internal combustion engine. It tends to be a popular choice in countries where there isn’t a supply of oil reserves available to use.

List of the Pros of Gasohol

1. It lowers the emissions from the vehicle.
Using gasohol instead of a standard gasoline can lower the carbon monoxide emissions from a vehicle by up to 30%. It also reduces your volatile organic compound profile by 12%. You’ll get a massive 35% reduction in carbon dioxide as well.

2. Gasohol comes from renewable products.
Anything that is starchy and organic can be converted into a gasohol product. That means we can use fewer fossil fuels for our transportation needs with this resource.

3. You can mix it into various concentration levels.
The most common form of gasohol in the United States is a 90/10 mixture with gasoline and ethanol. You can find a 15% ethanol mixture in some American cities as well. In South America, a 27% concentration rate is common. Automakers are also offering vehicles to some consumers that run on 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.

List of the Cons of Gasohol

1. It requires croplands to make the gasohol.
Farmers in the U.S. use corn to make gasohol products. International agricultural producers use their land to grow sugarcane for it. If we use our fields to make fuel instead of food, then there is an ethical concern about hunger to think about when using it. Scarcity causes prices to go up, which means our costs rise too.

2. You get less mileage with it.
When you mix alcohol with gasoline, then there is a lower energy content to the fuel. Engines must burn more gasohol to achieve the same performance levels, which means you’ll go fewer miles. The actual rates vary by vehicle, but most drivers lose between 5% to 10% of their overall fuel economy.

3. Some engines can’t use this product.
If you use too much alcohol in the fuel, then it can attack the various rubber seals and components that keep the systems working. Older vehicles usually need an upgrade before they can start using it.

Gasohol can help to provide a cheaper fuel to produce, but it can also raise costs for consumers because you might need to use more of it. That’s why evaluating each key point is necessary to determine if this option is right for you.

Gantt charts are useful in project management because it offers a useful way to show specific tasks, events, or activities when displayed against time.

On the left-hand side of the chart, you would see a specific activity. Then a row extends to the right of this task, with a timeframe listed above each square to indicate when it is active. You can use this information as a way to track staff meetings, project deadlines, and where there are issues of overlap with only a glance.

When Was the Gantt Chart Invented?

A man named Karol Adamiecki invented the first Gantt chart. He ran a steel organization in southern Poland and used this method to modernize his techniques and management ideas.

When Henry Gantt devised a similar method about 15 years later, his U.S.-based location allowed the structure to spread around the world faster. It became popular to use, so the chart would come to bear his name instead.

The initial charts using this method were prepared by hand, which meant any changes to the schedule required people to redraw or amend it. That limited its usefulness, so it was only implemented in specific situations.

Thanks to the progress that project management software and computers have made in the past 40 years, Gantt charts are now one of the most widely-used options for taking control over a complex schedule.

The Scale of the Gantt Chart

A Gantt chart can be of any scale. If you use Outlook’s version to schedule blocks of time at work, then it operates like a calendar of events for each day. You can list items on the schedule in hourly, daily, or weekly increments.

If a Gantt chart is being used for project management, then it might have 5-10 years of length incorporated into it.

Then each item you place onto the chart automatically tracks with other events to see if there are any conflicts present. You can color-code different elements to examine specific tasks, activities, or schedules and their priority.

The newest Gantt charts include a solid bar to indicate completion of work as well. When you combine these elements with the task labels, staff responsibility, and other notes that can help productivity, being over-booked is a problem of the past.

Furrow irrigation is a form of surface irrigation where agricultural workers dig trenches that allow water to flow through a field. Most systems only use gravity to push the water down each line, allowing it to seep horizontally and vertically to ensure the soil reservoir retains the moisture that is necessary for growth. Each furrow can be individually controlled to achieve specific results, or the entire field can receive the water that it needs.

List of the Pros of Furrow Irrigation

1. The cost of deployment is minimal with furrow irrigation.
Because this system of irrigation uses gravity to distribute water most of the time, the overall cost of deployment is much lower than it would be for other systems. Farms only need the infrastructure in place to deliver moisture to the field. Each trench can be controlled manually to keep costs down, although automated equipment is available for this process as well.

2. It encourages the process of photosynthesis more effectively.
Because the plants are not being sprayed with water, they can achieve higher levels of photosynthesis because there are fewer blockages in place. Even the lower leaves can achieve this process in the early stages of growth thanks to the additional light access that the furrows provide.

3. You are not limited by weather conditions with furrow irrigation.
If you were to spray water onto a field during a windy day, then there is no guarantee on where the moisture will eventually land. When the liquid moves through the trenches of furrow irrigation instead, then gravity pushes the water along to ensure each row receives the water that it requires.

4. There are lower energy costs associated with this method.
Farmers use furrow irrigation to flood their fields so that their crops receive the moisture they require for a successful season. Because this process can be manually produced after installation, there are minimal energy costs to consider when bringing moisture to where it is needed. Even if an automated system is in place, it takes less energy to provide coverage for a farmer’s property with this method compared to other systems.

List of the Cons of Furrow Irrigation

1. Furrow irrigation can result in standing water.
There are times when gravity doesn’t pull the water along the entire trench because there isn’t enough liquid available. This issue can result in the presence of standing water, which could reduce the respiration of the roots if there is too much moisture available. It can also promote the growth of mold and algae or encourage higher levels of insect activity which could harm the crop as well.

2. It may require changes to the field structure to be successful.
The trenches that make furrow irrigation possible are dependent on the slop of the field for a successful experience. Farmers can create an artificial descent for the water using their trenching equipment, but it can be a process that is time-intensive and expensive to complete in some regions. If there is not enough downward motion in the field, then this disadvantage could cause the system to fail for the plants at the furthest end of each row.

3. This system can promote soil erosion within the field.
Water movement can cause the soil in and around the trenches to begin eroding over time if the irrigation efforts are frequent. This issue may cause more nutrients to reach the plants at the end of the row instead of at the beginning, which may create uneven yields for some farmers. Although the roots of the plan will benefit from the added moisture, the increased health does not always equate to improved production.

4. There can still be a loss of water which occurs.
Because the water flows through the trenches in a furrow irrigation system, there will always be some moisture loss due to evaporation. Surface techniques can also lose some of their total capacity due to the effects of percolation in the system. In the western United States, this disadvantage hits twice because it can lead to salt buildup in the soil since local waters typically have a higher saline content than those to the east. Frequent flooding can eventually ruin the capacity of the soil to support production.

The pros and cons of furrow irrigation make it possible to increase yields while minimizing costs for farmers, although there are some specific issues that must be corrected first in some locations to maximize the impact of this process.

Front-loading washing machines give you the option to place your clothes in a horizontal drum when doing laundry at home instead of one that is vertically orientated. You will still get to clean your items effectively with each load, but without the reach requirements when needing to access items at the bottom of the drum.

List of the Pros of Front-Loading Washing Machines

1. Front-loaders are more energy-efficient with warm water.
When you have multiple loads of laundry to complete each week, you will use less energy with a front-loading washing machine. There is less water use on the warm cycle, and the equipment requires less detergent to create clean clothes as well.

2. They are typically quieter than a top-loading washing machine.
You will not have as much noise to deal with at home when using a front-loading washing machine. The equipment is typically quieter, even though you have higher spin speeds that operate during each cycle. You also have more cycle options to consider using with this option.

3. It can create a higher spin speed.
Because the spinning in the front-loading washing machine is so fast, the clothes require less drying once they emerge, giving you another cost-savings option. This process also creates minimal lint since there is not as much friction placed on the materials.

List of the Cons of Front-Loading Washing Machines

1. You cannot open the machine mid-cycle.
Although most top-loading machines will lock the lid in the middle of a cycle, you can still open it while it is filling. Front-loading machines do not offer this option. Once you get things started, you’re committed to the process.

2. It takes more time for a cycle to complete.
The average top-loading washing machine can go through a cycle somewhere between 15-30 minutes per load. The front-loading design requires up to an hour to ensure that your clothes are clean and ready to be dried.

3. They are more expense to purchase.
You will spend at least 50% more if you choose a front-loading washing machine compared to a top-loading model. The capacity of the equipment is usually less as well, which means you will have more loads of laundry to complete each week.

The pros and cons of front-loading washing machines indicate that you can save some energy and reduce damage to your clothing, but it comes at a higher initial expense and requires more of your time.

Flexography printing uses a traditional method which features a flexible relief plate that is typically made of plastic or rubber. This design allows it to conform to the surface, delivering ink to many different kinds of components. The ink usually has a lower viscosity, allowing it to dry quickly for high-speed production needs.

List of the Pros of Flexography

1. It can be used to print on a variety of different materials.
The most significant advantage of flexography is that you can print on numerous material options. This benefit occurs as a direct result of the ink and relief plate used during printing activities.

2. It operates at high press speeds.
Operators can take care of large printing jobs quickly thanks to the processes involved with flexography. The high press speeds allow it to work on a large roll of substrate, completing varnishing, laminating, or even die-cutting during a single pass.

3. The cost of production is quite low.
When the printing plates receive proper care, then they can last for several runs. Their initial cost is higher when compared to other options that are available, but the combination of speed and longevity creates a lower cost overall.

List of the Cons of Flexography

1. It takes more time to set up each job.
Although the printing process is relatively quick compared to other methods which are available today, the time to set up each job is more time-consuming. That means flexography works better when printing multiple runs of the same options.

2. New version changes require you to start over.
You cannot update the design used in flexography in the middle of the run. If you find that making a change is necessary, then you must start the process over from the very beginning.

3. The cost of the plates may be prohibitive to some businesses.
The average cost for a new plate when using flexography techniques is between $75 to $100 for mot products. You will also have higher levels of substrate waste, often consuming over 1,000 feet of label stock to create a finished project.

These flexography pros and cons indicate that the high press speeds and variety of materials make it a suitable option for some, but only if the initial capital requirements are met.

A flat organizational structure occurs when there are no levels of middle management that exist between the C-Suite, ownership, or executive team and the entry-level staff. This model makes it easier to communicate from top-to-bottom in the business, giving each person more influence over the decision-making process to elevate individual responsibilities.

List of the Pros of a Flat Organization Structure

1. It is a cost-effective method of doing business.
Because there are fewer managers involved in the hierarchy of the company, fewer labor costs must be paid during each period. With salary costs reduced, the organization can offer better pay and benefits or route the saved money toward research and development.

2. Decisions are made quickly.
A flat organizational structure reduces the number of meetings that must occur to ensure that everyone is on the same page. This structure makes it possible to create a rapid response to issues as they occur, resulting in better movement with less downtime.

3. It improves the accuracy of communication.
When there are fewer people from top-to-bottom, then there are not as many opportunities to have the content of a message changed as it passes from person to person. That means you have fewer instances of miscommunication to worry about each day.

List of the Cons of a Flat Organizational Structure

1. This structure can lead to micromanagement.
Because the executive team is directly overseeing the work being completed each day, entry-level staff can feel like their work is micromanaged using a flat organization structure. There can be reduced levels of creativity if the ownership demands compliance with certain structures.

2. Management can lose control quickly.
A flat organizational structure often works with a severely high ratio of managers to staff. Because there are fewer people with the authority to initiate disciplinary action procedures, it can be challenging to ensure that everyone is putting forth their best effort.

3. There can be power vacuums that may occur.
When there are no middle managers available to ensure compliance with corporate policy, the lack of presence from an owner or executive team can result in a power vacuum that someone on the staff attempts to fill. This issue can create confusion, resentment, and other ill feelings if it occurs frequently.

The flat organizational structure pros and cons show us that this method is cost-effective by design, but it can also create personnel issues that may be challenging to resolve.

Native to the Mediterranean region, fenugreek is an herb which is similar to clover. The seeds are often used for cooking. They can also be made into medicines or used to hide the taste of medicine. Their seeds smell and taste very similar to maple syrup.

Here are the pros and cons of fenugreek seeds to consider.

List of the Pros of Fenugreek Seeds

1. They can improve brain function.
Fenugreek seeds work to reduce the activity of acetylcholinesterase, which reduces the production of proteins that can lead to plaque formation within the nervous system.

2. They can lower cholesterol levels.
People with Type 1 diabetes who consume fenugreek seeds have been shown to benefit from lower total cholesterol levels, lower LDL levels, and lower triglycerides.

3. They might improve skin health.
One unique benefit from fenugreek seeds is the production of mucilage, which can help to sooth irritated skin. Although this requires fenugreek seed extract, melanin content and skin bump counts have been found to be lower after 6 weeks of application.

List of the Cons of Fenugreek Seeds

1. They can cause nausea.

Fennel is a unique spice because it adds a flavor to your food that is similar to licorice. The seeds from the plant may be able to provide some health benefits as well, with virtually no dangerous negatives to consider.

Here are the pros and cons of adding fennel seeds to your diet.

List of the Pros of Fennel Seeds

1. They are a low-calorie food.
If you add a tablespoon of fennel seeds to the food you are eating, then you’re adding just 20 calories. That means it’s just 1% of your daily calorie allowance if you’re following a standard 2,000-calorie eating plan.

2. They are a high fiber food.
Fennel seeds are an excellent source of dietary fiber. That same 1 tablespoon of seeds offers up to 9% of your daily needs, with a single serving containing more than 2g of fiber.

3. They offer a good boost of iron.
A single serving of fennel seeds will also provide up to 14% of your iron needs. It contains several additional minerals as well, including calcium, magnesium, and zinc, to promote better health.

List of the Cons of Fennel Seeds

1. They can make you more sensitive to sunlight.
If you eat fennel seeds on a regular basis, then you may become more sensitive to sunlight over time. This may cause a rash in some people, while others may find that they are more prone to sunburns.

2. They can trigger menstruation.
Women need to be careful when consuming fennel seeds in high quantities as they can trigger menstruation. Because of this issue, women who are pregnant should avoid consuming fennel regularly.

3. They can interact with some medications.
Fennel seeds are known to interact with some antibiotics. They will also interact with certain seizure medications. If you are taking a prescription medication with a known interaction, you’ll need to eat the fennel seeds at least 2 hours before or after at minimum to reduce these interactions. Your doctor may recommend that you avoid fennel altogether.

The pros and cons of fennel seeds, for most people, show that this food option offers many positive benefits with minimal issues. If you are allergic to fennel or take certain medications for your health, you may wish to speak with your doctor before adding this spice to your life.

Eyewitness testimony is considered to be evidence when available in an investigation. It is often a reference to testimony given by a witness in court after they’ve seen a crime or incident occur. This testimony can also be discovered during a private investigation into specific issues, such as a workplace disciplinary action.

Here are the pros and cons of eyewitness testimony to review.

List of the Pros of Eyewitness Testimony

1. It provides a direct link to the incident in question.
Investigations are always after the fact. Only eyewitnesses were involved in the initial sequence of events which led to the need of having an investigation in the first place. What they are able to remember provides investigators with a direct link to what happened, allowing them to identify the people involved. This promotes a higher level of safety within society.

2. It can be used as direct evidence.
The testimony of an eyewitness can be used as evidence in a criminal or civil proceeding. It is generally considered reliable, though both parties in the case will have an opportunity to either establish or tarnish the credibility of each witness. No matter how faulty the recall method may be, testimony given in court is used to bolster a case. Eyewitness testimony which provides an alibi is just as important as testimony which points to a specific perpetrator.

3. It can be strengthened with early written statements.
One reason why a written statement is taken from eyewitnesses after an incident occurs is that it reinforces the memory. When you write something down, you are forced to recall the incident with specificity. This creates a written record of the testimony, allowing for it to be referenced in the future, avoiding the issues of reliability that sometimes afflict this type of testimony.

4. It can be combined with other eyewitnesses.
A case with only one eyewitness can be difficult to prove. That is why multiple eyewitnesses are used whenever possible. With multiple people recalling what they remember about an incident, it helps listeners begin to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Even if one person’s recall isn’t 100% perfect, the similarities in each witness creates a foundation for evidence.

List of the Cons of Eyewitness Testimony

1. It is not always reliable.
Eyewitness testimony always depends upon the memory of the individual involved. If their memory is incomplete, then the testimony they provide will be incomplete as well. Even if the person directly witnessed an event, how they perceived what occurred could be different from what other eyewitnesses saw as well.

2. It can be manipulated.
Question wording experiments have shown that lawyers can produce specific answers through eyewitness testimony by inserting certain words into questions about an incident being discussed. That leads the subject to provide an incorrect account of what they saw, even though it feels like a genuine memory to them.

3. It can be influenced by personal emotions.
When someone gets very nervous, it affects their ability to recall specific pieces of information from their memory. The same issue happens when someone feels angry or experiences high levels of stress. These emotions can impact how a memory is initially perceived as well, which prevents a true recall of the events which happened.

4. It can be bought.
Eyewitness testimony is only as reliable as the person who is giving it. To prevent a witness from lying about what they saw, there are perjury and witness tampering laws in place. That doesn’t stop some people from bribing witnesses to say something specific. People can even decide on their own to change their story if they think it will benefit them in a positive way.

5. It can allow perceptions to become reality.
Over time, memory of a specific sequence of events begins to fade. Those events can be influenced by other memories and perceptions. People can think that they have seen something because they once saw a similar event in a movie or television show. Adrenaline in the moment can affect perceptions as well. If you combine real-time perceptions with long-term doubt, then eyewitness testimony may not be accurate.

The pros and cons of eyewitness testimony indicate that it is an important element of any criminal justice proceeding or private investigation. What people see, and recall, allows for justice to be served when it is appropriately used. The issue is that when this testimony is inaccurate, for any reason, then it becomes unreliable and could be used to harm someone instead of helping them.

Although it is referred to as a salt, Epsom salt is actually composed from crystals of hydrated magnesium sulfate. The product gets its name from a spring in Surrey, England, where the product was first produced.

One common way to enjoy the benefits of Epsom salt is in a bath. Here are the pros and cons of taking an Epsom salt bath to consider.

List of the Pros of an Epsom Salt Bath

1. It reduces stress levels.
Taking an Epsom salt bath helps to restore magnesium levels in the body to healthy levels. This works to prevent stress because the brain is able to produce melatonin, while also reducing adrenaline levels.

2. It can eliminate toxins.
The sulfates found in Epsom salt are able to help flush out toxins that are in the cells of the body. This process is so effective that it can be used to flush out heavy metals.

3. It acts as a laxative.
If you consume Epsom salt, the magnesium in the product works as a natural laxative. It works very quickly to relieve occasional issues with constipation.

4. It balances blood sugar levels.
If you consume a healthy level of Epsom salt on a regular basis, it can work to balance out blood sugar levels. It may improve a person’s energy levels each day and could lower the risk of diabetes.

List of the Cons of an Epsom Salt Bath

1. It may cause skin irritation.
Some people have skin that is sensitive to interactions with magnesium sulfate. Taking a bath would create itchiness and pain and should be avoided if this is a personal issue.

2. It causes a rise in blood pressure.
Individuals who are being treated for high blood pressure should avoid an Epsom salt bath unless their doctor recommends the treatment. The change in blood pressure means anyone with an open sore, or women who are pregnant, should avoid taking a bath.

3. It may cause uncomfortable physical symptoms.
Taking an Epsom salt bath may cause muscle stiffness and cramping. If the Epsom salt is taken as a laxative, it may also cause bloating, nausea, and painful cramping.

Epsom salt can be a beneficial product to keep at home. Keep track of the potential negatives and avoid using the product in a bath if it could negatively affect your health.
