It features young children with disabilities who have high hopes and great dreams for their futures. It also features adults that are living with disabilities and all the ways that they have over come them and became a shining member of the community. It’s a wonderful source of hope and happiness for anyone with a disability, or anyone who knows someone with a disability.

Meera Shenoy, a wonderful mentor from India, speaks at this TEDx event in Berkeley about the ever growing problem of disabled people being put down in India. One out of every seven people in the world is disabled in some way, and in a place like India, this is a staggering number. She speaks about the work that she does, and some of the people that she has helped to better their lives. She believes that the best way to help these people is by showing them just how able they truly are and all that they are capable of.

Ben Strong, a talented theater artist, speaks about his experiences traveling to China. He worked with the factory workers, as well as the children and youth in the villages and cities that he visited. He held incredible theater workshops there, when he realized how powerful the theater truly was in these areas. One of the strongest points that he touches on, was the alarming amount of disabled youth in this region of the world and how he feels like we can all help them.

With such a large percentage of the United State’s population being disabled, the Obama administration has focused very largely on the issues surrounding these citizens. Education standards, employment opportunities, and other civil rights issues are things that need to be, and are currently being, worked on in this country. In this great video, President Obama sits down with a group of young, disabled people to listen to their thoughts, concerns, and ideas about improving the system for disabled people. Along with President Obama, a wide range of his administration members where also present to discuss the measures that are being taken to improve the situation for all disabled people in the entire country.

For a youth with a disability, the prospect of life after high school can be very scary. Not just for them, but for their parents as well. There is not nearly as much help and aid in college situations for young people with a disability. This great video was made to try to help answer all of the daunting questions that surround college, jobs, and life after high school for anyone with disabilities. The young adults that are featured in this video show just how much is possible, even with all of the challenges, and why it is so important to set your goals high and don’t let anything get in your way of achieving them, even a disability.
